Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa - review

Been able to watch the movie of "Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa" or The Malay Chronicles: Bloodlines (HMM) on the 1st night HMM officially premiered!

Outside of the cinema... everyone gettin excited to watch the most wanted, waited movie since it is a very COSTLY movie (RM8 millions)...

WARNING:- SPOILERS ahead... if YOU haven't watch the movie & willing to accept the consequences... YOU ARE ALLOWED to stay & read... heh!

First of all... I have no intention to compare HMM with any international epic's movie such as LOTR or Narnia or perhaps POC...

And it's been awhile Malaysia didn't produced such a movie after "Puteri Gunung Ledang".

Adapted from our local history, an ancient Malay literature that chronicles the bloodline of Merong Mahawangsa and the foundation of the Kedah, a state in Malaysia

da movie:-

The story line is superb... is about a hero named Merong Mahawangsa, who's been asked to escort a Prince of ROM, Marcus Carpenius to meet his bride to be, Princess Meng Li Hua.

A chaos occured when the Gerudas attacked them & kidnapped the Princess...
And the story lines begin to expand...

For me... thou HMM tryin to focus on Merong... but I think the supporting actor & actress are more good compared to the hero.
Big applaused to Kamawas, Embuk, Ying Ying

I am so regret & feelin sad watching the transition scene of mode in HMM... totally SUCKS & more likely unfinished work of slideshow...
I mean... come on... you managed to produce such a technology movie... but yet, the flow of the movie... my guudness!
Perhaps... shooting this kind of movie type... I don't think 52 days is not a GOOD IDEA at all!

Not forgetting... the SCRIPT... both in English & Malay...
Definitely... not good e'nuff...
I just can't believe... it is so damn TERRIBLE!
Never thought that... KRU Studio's got problem to produce such a proper (at least...) English & Malay kuno language...
I mean.. come on... you guys already produced so much songs & English album...
I read in few interviews... saying that da production been doing research almost more than a year (for REAL?)

But.. I do SALUTES & RESPECT the action packed scenes & the props, especially Geruda's territory!
Totally awesome!

Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa

Another 2 days before the "The Malay Chronicles: Bloodlines (Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa)" hits the cinemas!

Taken from the OFFICIAL WEBSITE synopsis:

Based loosely on the 16th century historical document entitled ‘The Malay Annals’, ’The Chronicles of Merong Mahawangsa’ is an action-packed epic feature film, with mythical characters, magical moments and dazzling visual-effects sequences.

Merong Mahawangsa was a descendant of Alexander the Great, a renowned naval captain and traveler who came to Asia several hundred years ago.

The year is 120 AD… a time when the Roman Empire is at the height of its power, during the reign of Hadrian – one of the Five Good Emperors. Meanwhile in China, the Han Dynasty is firmly cemented as the ruling empire and is expanding into Central Asia… one hundred years before the period of the Three Kingdoms.

As the Roman fleet did their repairs and traded in Goa, they asked Merong Mahawangsa to escort a Roman prince to Southeast Asia, to wed a beautiful Chinese princess from the Han Dynasty. The Chinese princess and the Roman prince are supposed to meet halfway and be married on neutral grounds.

However, the pirate nation of Geruda had other plans. They decided to kidnap the Chinese princess and use her as ransom. En route to the Straits of Melaka, Merong Mahawangsa’s fleet was attacked by Geruda’s forces while stopping at a small island to replenish supplies.

Will Merong Mahawangsa be able to rescue the Princess and re-unite her with her betrothed in a marriage that is set to bring together two great civilizations from the East and West ?

Burlesque The Movie

Burlesque is a musical film directed by Steven Antin. The movie is also a first attempt of Christina Aguilera into a big screen along with Cher.

The movie storyline basically is about Ali Rose (Christina) who's struggling to get a better life when she decided to move to Los Angeles after not getting her paid for 2 months at her ol' town in Iowa.

On her searching for a job, she bumps into this a bar named, Burlesque & amazed with the idea of the bar.
She tried to meet the owner of Burlesque, Tess (Cher) to apply for a job but been rejected.

Ali not givin' up yet... and she's been friend with Jack (Cam Gigandet) - bartender with hope, sooner or later she will be part of the Burlesque

And yes, she's right! Ali managed to get an audition when Tess & Sean (Stanley Tucci) looking for a new talent. Thou, Tess being hard on Ali... Ali is damn eager to get herself into Burlesque & she make sure that Tess will not regret it.

Ali began to shine herself in Burlesque when she's been told by Tess to take Nikki (Kristen Bell) spot. Nikki got mad & tryin to screw up dat nite show. Nikki messed up with Ali's mic but Ali took that advantage by showing her voice. Everyone was stunned & impressed including Tess.

From dat nite, Tess make a huge change in Burlesque performances & the bar gettin so much attentions includes from Marcus (Eric Dane), a businessman who's been trying to buy the bar's spot.

Watchin' Burlesque totally wow-ed with Christina's vocal! It's like watchin' a LIVE concert of Christina Aguilera! The songs totally awesome! No doubt on it! Plus, Christina's act also suits the needs of this movie!
